Structured teaching and workstation use

Learn what a workstation is and how to use one effectively for your ASD pupils. Learn to make use of strategies that reduce the overwhelm that pupils' can sometimes experience in school

Supporting Behaviour - a therapeutic approach

Part 1 - Training focussed on factors that influence behaviour using a therapeutic lens, including how our behaviour influences outcomes 

Part 2 - Training focussed on behaviour support approaches with a focus on therapeutic strategies. 

Training focussed on behaviour support approaches, with an emphasis on building relationships and de-escalation  

Early Communication Strategies

(EY and KS1)

This session will cover use of Intensive Interaction, communication temptation and visuals to develop engagement in EYFS and KS1

Learn what visuals are and the importance of using them effectively to support Communication, Regulation and Engagement

You will gain understanding about how individual differences in Executive Function and Working Memory may impact learning. Strategies to reduce cognitive load and increase confidence and independence are explored

Supporting Autism in mainstream

(A009)

An Introduction to some common barriers that Autistic pupils face in school and the wider community.  We will suggest approaches that schools can take to support their Autistic pupils

A Therapeutic Learning Environment (F008)

Creating a therapeutic environment to promote inclusivity  

Play Schemas (A010)

Learn to recognise schematic play in your pupils. Learn which resources and play opportunities will stretch their imagination and learning by tuning into play. Suitable for primary schools, particularly R and KS1

Recognise which play schemas your pupils are learning. Gain ideas of how to use play schemas and children's interests to extend their learning

Building Emotional Language

Learn information and strategies to support students with emotional literacy and social language needed at school

Terms & Conditions

• Cancellation of your booking must be made up to 1 week in advance via email to: WOS@addington.wokingham.sch.uk 
• Last minute cancellations are sometimes inevitable - if this is the case this can be done by phone or email - contact details will be provided separately on your event reminder, sent nearer the course date.
• Only the participant booked may attend. If you wish to substitute your place (for another staff member, if you cannot make it) please let us know in advance who will be attending.
• Conduct on training must be appropriate and in line with your school's standards.
• All absences that are unaccounted for on WOS training courses will be monitored. Repeated occurrences may jeopardise your ability to book onto future training courses and be reported to your school.
• In order to comply with data protection legislation please be aware that the person whose data is shared on a booking request to attend WOS advertised training is aware of the booking and that the sharing of this information is for the purposes of processing the booking.
